101 On Starting Your Own Business

Everyone assumes it's impossible to start a business, or that you need a large amount of money to start a business. Here are a few tips to starting a business: 1.) Pick a name, DBA "doing business as". 2.) Open a bank account, a BUSINESS bank account. You can put the account under your name with your DBA, this way your clients can write a check for either you or the business. KEEP EXPENSES SEPARATE FROM PERSONAL EXPENSES. 3.) Business certificates/licenses. Both state and federal levels. Most states don't require them, however, it's a quick google search to find if you need it. Taxes DO need to be paid, both state and federal so be sure to enroll your business in whichever .gov website is needed to file the necessary quarterly forms and pay your taxes. 4.) Pick a domain. Start a website and claim it as yours. That's the easy part! From there, it's finding your client base and getting that cash flow!
